The Bulacan State University is a state funded institution of higher learning and was converted into a University by virtue of Republic Act 7665 in 1993. It started as an intermediate school established and run by Americans in 1904. The administration was later on transferred to Filipinos in 1916 and through the years it develoPEd into a trade school and later became as the Bulacan Trade School.The passage of Republic Act 908 in 1953 nationalized the Bulacan Trade School and became the Bulacan National Trade School. In 1957, Republic Act 1800 converted it into the Bulacan National School of Arts and Trades (BNSAT),and later on converted into Bulacan School of Arts and Trades (BSAT) in1960. Republic Act 4470 was enacted into law and converted BSAT into the Bulacan College of Arts and Trades where it provided higher professional instruction and training in arts and sciences and technology.
The University has at present three external campuses, apart from its Main Campus in Malolos Bulacan. The biggest satellite campus is located in Bustos Bulacan were programs in General Engineering, Industrial Technology and Education are being offered. The Meneses Campus also offers General Engineering program, Nursing and Education while the Sarmiento Campus offers Business Administration, Industrial Technology, Information Technology, Engineering and Education courses.
The University has at present a population of 19,000 students under the different Colleges of Law, Education,Engineering, Industrial Technology,Nursing and Graduate School and the Institutes of Architecture and Fine Arts,Arts and Letters, Computer Education,Home Economics, Physical Education,Social Science and Philosophy.
All program offerings of the University passed theapproval of the Commission on Higher Educationand have been accredited by the AccreditingAgency for Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP),Inc.Some Engineeringawarded Center of Excellence and Development by the Commission on Higher Education.
The University, with its present status shall continue with its mission of providing higher professional courses and realize its vision of becoming one of the country's leading institutions in developing graduates responsive to the needs of the needs of the region and the demands of global standards.
